Interactive video is something a bit different. In techie speak, interactive video is a series of hotspots
overlain on top of the video itself. The viewer can click in one of those hotspots. Clicking activates a link
in the hotspot and the viewer goes off to another page, video, or site.
Imagine a video in which the camera
has the point of view of a person walking down an aisle in a store. The camera/person sees a widget they like. Assuming
that a hotspot is overlaying that widget, the viewer could click it and go to another video showing the details of
that widget.
Think of interactive video as a visual moving menu.
Interactive video example
Below is an example of interactive video. ProAdSpec wanted something they could use to promote their experience
with corporate holiday gift giving. There are five videos all together. Each single video has links embedded within it
that allow the user to click on a "button" and go on to view that next video. In the intro video, Dan explicitly
explains that ability to click and move to the next video of your choosing.
